Was Walther von der Vogelweide really a real Franconian? Discover this great poet of the Middle Ages. His poetries and his minnesongs are notorious to the present days. We suppose, that he was a son of the knight Walther von Stollberg. Born in 1170 at Stollburg castle, he died 1230 in Herlheim near Kolitzheim. Stollburg castle was destroyed as many other German castles in the 16th century during the Peasant War. The stones of the ruin were partially used to built up the Obeschwarzach palace. Nowadays over 14 meters high ancient walls still emerge from the forest floor.
