Four arches over the moat

Schweinfurt is Protestant even after the Thirty Years War. The art of the baroque as in Würzburg was not reflected here. Structural changes focused on strengthening and improving the towers and walls. The Spitaltorbrücke dates from this time. Built in 1615, the bridge led safely on five stone arches over what was then the western moat.

In 2008 the bridge was rediscovered during construction work. Well preserved, you can marvel at the Spitaltor Bridge under the newly constructed building from the outside.
