White Tower

Descend into the underworld of Schweinfurt

Philosopher's Walk and Towers

This former city wall tower dates back to the 14th century and is a fascinating relic of times past.

The White Tower is part of the Philosophengang, which runs along the old ramparts of Schweinfurt. This picturesque park along the Upper Wall leads you past four towers: the Wiesenhüterturm, the Weißer Turm, the Jägerturm, and the Samtturm.

During the Thirty Years' War, the White Tower suffered severe damage, which is still visible today. You can even see cannonballs left there - silent witnesses of an eventful past.

In 1805, the White Tower was partially demolished, but the thick walls of the tower stump have survived to this day. You can explore the walls on a guided tour and take a look at the underground cellars that extend beneath the redoubt. Immerse yourself in history and feel the breath of times gone by as you explore the White Tower. Here you can experience firsthand the atmosphere of centuries past and understand the importance of the city walls in protecting the city.

The White Tower and the Philosopher's Walk offer you not only historical flair, but also a picturesque environment to relax and enjoy. Take the opportunity to walk along the path and admire the beauty of the surrounding nature.
