worth seeing Schweinfurt
ShotTower
Did you know? A drop of lead forms a perfect sphere in free fall from a height of 44 meters. After this discovery, shot towers were built all over the world in the early 19th century. At that time, shotgun pellets were in great demand for hunting.
You will discover a particularly beautiful shot tower in the old town of Schweinfurt. The ascent begins via a former Renaissance staircase. The stone steps lead up four floors to a richly decorated belvedere. Original fresco paintings and inscriptions come from a time before the Thirty Years' War raged in Germany. You climb another two floors via narrow wooden stairs. Here you will find remains of the historical lead mining. Finally, enjoy the view over Schweinfurt and the Main.
The tower can only be visited as part of our weekly tours.
To be visited as part of city tours.
