Museum of Military Tradition and Contemporary History

Big reproduced motives and elaborately designed scenes roll back the years. Experience military history of 200 years. Outside a light railway, a bunker complex and rockets are exhibited. At close range you can marvel at the 1st pursuit plane of German Federal Armed Forces and the biggest biplane on earth - an Antonov AN-2. An accessible 1st World War position and bunker complex is partially built with original construction material. it shows the tough soldier's life full of deprivation.
Workaday life of particular periods is presented, too. A historical barn with a carpenter's shop, a blacksmith's shop and a washhouse illustrate the farmer's lifes and handicrafts in former times.
A large presentation of engineer technology is completes this military exhibition. You see Pontons, the amphibian bridge "Alligator" and the huge tank M48 featuring 60 tons of net weight.
Museum spring and model making days
The military vehicles are well oiled and well maintained. You can see the vehicles at full speed on the museum spring or the model building days.
Camper Place
There are more than 20 parking spaces for mobile homes with supply and disposal stations, electricity, WiFi and a direct connection directly at the museum on the museum meadow. The sanitary building is equipped with modern showers and toilet facilities. The Main Cycle Path leads right past the museum. Right next to it is the Museum of Military and Contemporary History and the “Zur Schmiede” inn.
