Hidden and haunted places

Klingenberg Castle is hidden in the forest between Wipfeld and Obereisenheim. On the Main Cycle Path and the Ferry Trail, you can catch a glimpse of the striking stepped gables and round walls of the castle. The castle dates from the 13th century. The castle forest is closed and unfortunately not accessible.

Fun fact

Allegedly there should have been a secret tunnel from the castle under the Main to Stammheim. You can still hear the ships on the Main in the old cellars of the Zehnthof in Stammheim. However, it is not possible to visit the old cellars.
