Gochsheim
The community of Gochsheim with the community part Weyer looks back on a history of more than 1200 years. The formerly free imperial village of Gochsheim has developed from the center of Lower Franconian vegetable cultivation into a modern urban surrounding area with high recreational value and excellent infrastructure as well as transport links.
Gochsheim and Weyer offer numerous leisure activities. Hikers and cyclists will find a well-developed network of trails that lead through the two forests of Oberholz and Rückerschlag as well as through the Flur. The indoor pool with sunbathing lawn and solarium also offers relaxation. From April to October, the variety of vegetables and herbs as well as the rich history of the Gochsheim vegetable landscape can be discovered in a show and teaching garden.
Historical monuments tell of the rich history of Gochsheim: The historic town hall, the Schwebheimer Tor, the St. Michaelskirche with one of the largest Franconian fortified churches. The Reichsdorf Museum is also located in the churchyard.
On the first Sunday in September, the traditional parish festival commemorates the conclusion of peace after the Thirty Years' War and the regaining of imperial freedom in 1649. The peace festival with the Plantanz was included in the Bavarian state directory of intangible cultural heritage in 2016. Another highlight in the calendar of events is the annual harvest festival with a colorful parade and subsequent dance.
