Luelsfeld
The community of Lülsfeld with its district Schallfeld is located in the fertile Steigerwald foreland between the Main and Steigerwald. With around 830 inhabitants, Lülsfeld is the smallest municipality in the Schweinfurt district, but it can look back on a long history. Barrows in the community forest bear witness to the early settlement of this area.
The small community of Lülsfeld is the seat of the largest energy cooperative in Bavaria: the Überlandzentrale Unterfranken (ÜZ) is based here and supplies around 123,000 people in the southeast of Lower Franconia with electricity.
The two churches, formerly fortified churches, in Schallfeld and Lülsfeld with their baroque interior are well worth seeing. The "Maria Schnee" monastery of the Würzburg Redemption Sisters was closed as an education and conference center at the beginning of 2015, but is still an imposing, impressive and local building.
